Ani DiFranco

folk singer/songwriter and founder of record label Righteous Babe

"Gotta love the Scottish Rite! Thanx"

Ani DiFranco is a folk musician with influences rooted deeply in jazz, punk rock, funk, and hip hop. Her music draws heavy inspiration from her politic beliefs and ideals, leading to her involvement in social moments and benefit concerts. In 1990, DiFranco was one of the first independent artists to create their own record label, allowing her more creative freedom and control over her own music. Her label, Righteous Babe, currently represents over 15 artists aside from DiFranco herself and owns the 1,200-person concert venue Babeville, an abandoned church renovated by the label from 2000 to 2006.
